Testimonials

A few kind words from some of our customers:

“I worked with Paul on many projects during his employment with The Jersey Department of Agriculture. As an engineer I found his approach and advice on new projects to be comprehensive and extremely helpful.”
Graham Le Lay - Jersey Farmers Union
“I have had the pleasure of working with Paul over several years, and have been extremely impressed with his professionalism, dedication, and the depth and breadth of his knowledge and experience. He has the rare attribute of being able to convert forensic analysis into practical solutions, both in crop production and technical management.”
Ian Reed - Redfox
“I was fortunate to be employed at the Wight Salads Group, after being interviewed by a board containing Paul Challinor. Paul was my direct line manager for the years I worked at the WSG. ┬áHe had a very good command of our multiple customer expectations and was instrumental in ensuring the teams met these at all times. He managed to balance the multiple production sites, both in the UK and overseas, as well as third party suppliers. ┬áThis was achieved by good communications throughout, and a clear understanding of the capabilities of all our sources. I would describe Paul's man management skills as firm, but fair, and his knowledge of the products, pesticides, crop production and NPD as second to none. He has been one of the best 'Mentors' that I have had the pleasure to work with, and had a good way of pulling a team together and directing them to get the best results.”
George Thomas - Natures Way Foods (Selsey)
“I have worked on and off with Paul for the last 14 years, and I have admired and respected his professionalism and technical expertise within horticulture. This expertise and attention to detail has also given him the confidence to communicate effectively with growers, suppliers and customers alike, and I have no hesitation in recommending his services.”
Richard Diplock - Thanet Earth Marketing Ltd.
“I have used Paul as a crop advisor for over seven years both in the UK and Spain. I have found his advice and reports objective and constructive. Paul does not sit on the fence, but clearly assesses the crops and details remedial measures. Paul's speciality is protected crops, but I have also asked for his advice on other crops as he has a comprehensive horticultural knowledge. Paul is always willing to help and responds immediately to my queries. I have no hesitation in recommending Paul as a crop advisor.”
Jeff Layton - Fresh Direct
“It was during the early 1990's that I first met Paul Challinor. As an experimental officer at HRI Efford, I was invited to visit Jersey and speak to the local tomato growers about my research programme. Based on my knowledge of Paul's trials programme, and the work he was doing towards his PhD, I recommended Paul to HazlewoodVHB's then managing director, Mr Arnold Lewis, as VHB were looking to strengthen their management team, with the new expansion of their Runcton site in mind. Paul joined the VHB team in 1997, and was instrumental in the successful completion of the sites expansion of an additional 23 acres. Under Paul's management, the site was to achieve the highest yields of any VHB site and other cultural innovations such as nutrient solution recirculation. As the technical Director of HumberVHB, I was very fortunate to work closely with Paul in a technical capacity, during which he became very close to the retail sector. Paul's departure from HumberVHB in 2004 was a great loss of an excellent grower and technician.”
Dr. David J. Hand - Hands On Consulting
“I have worked with Paul for many years at Wight Salads where he carried out the role of Technical Director covering customer as well as grower-facing issues. Paul helped Wight Salads develop the company's relationships with many of the multiple retailers through his knowledge, understanding and expertise also made significant contributions to agronomy and innovation helping to maintain Wight Salads position as the largest, and best, Tomato grower in the UK and the largest independent organic tomato producer in the EU. As well as responsibility of all things technical on the companies UK nurseries, Paul also took responsibility for Wight Salads Iberian operations, where he lead the development of large scale glasshouse projects from concept to completion and production. Paul is a highly skilled and experienced person. Highly respected in the fresh produce industry, he has been and will continue to be, a major asset to any organization looking to utilize his expertise.”
